4Very Effective!  Apr 10, 2010
I have a cat with feline herpes. She has a chronic sneeze that is apparently impossible to treat--homeopathically or traditionally. Cats nasal passages are too narrow for medicine to reach far enough inside. If anyone has had any success with this problem, I would be so grateful for any suggestions.

The second problem she had/has is a chronic bladder infection with blood in her urine. All that was available was a few antibiotics and none of them worked. In addition they made other issues worse and caused the sores she occasionally gets inside her ears and on her chin to erupt and spread.

After lots of research and missteps I found PetAlive UTI-Free. This has been a hugh help in treating her bladder infection. The instructions are to give the granules every 30 minutes for up to 6 doses the first day. Thereafter 2-3 times daily for 7 days. Maintenance dose if needed is 2 doses per day which I have to do. The biggest complaint is the tiny granules roll around and are not the easiest to administer. Instructions are to place a large pinch in a cat or small dog's mouth. Not the easiest to administer, but she tolerates it fairly well. Keep the head tilted back until swallowed because my cat will spit it out if given the chance. I tasted it myself and it is quite bland so she doesn't foam at the mouth the way she does with strong tasting medicine. I periodically test her urine at home, and typically there is little or no trace of blood.

This is not an inexpensive treatment, but cheaper and better then antibiotics. A dose for small or medium dogs is two pinches and medium or large dogs 1/4 cap (it is a small cap). I've only found it available in the 20 gram size. Please give this a try if you have an animal with bladder or urinary tract infections. I don't give it five stars primarily because of the difficulty in administration and the fact that it requires twice daily administration (in my situation, I have to give it three times daily) for maximum effectiveness. However, it is the best thing I've found so far and I don't worry about the safety.
